Product Description |
|
The High Definition Power Center HDP 2500 is a bold combination of design, advanced engineering, and convenient functionality. This PowerCenter design delivers the advanced protection and performance that home theater enthusiasts expect.Common power surges, spikes and dips can occur multiple times a day and can easily hurt or ruin the delicate digital circuitry in your home theater electronics. But, many ordinary surge protectors only use MOVs (Metal Oxide Varistors) with a limited surge absorption capacity, rated in Joules. If a surge's power exceeds the Joule capacity, any connected equipment is left vulnerable to surge hurt. The HDP 2500 gives your delicate HDTV and digital AV electronics the advanced protection they need. For a triple layer of safety, the HDP 2500 protects against power surges and spikes on all three power lines (line, neutral, ground). With over 6066 Joules of surge absorption capacity, the HDP 2500 provides a very high level of protection. The HDP 2500 features advanced Monster Clean Power HD Stage 2 filtration that's precision-engineered to remove the effects of dirty power for better picture and sound. In addition, by minimizing noise and interference, HD Clean Power filtration reduces unnecessary wear to the sensitive digital circuitry in today's high definition home theater components.

Just in Time

Chose on getting a high end surge protector for the SAMSUNG LED TV. LEt me tell you two days after hooking in together we were hit with several tough storms. We lost power several times and the home itself was hit with multiple power spikes. The wife and I looked at one one another every time. "boy I am sure glad we have that surge protector"
WELL WORTH THE few dollars, in order to protect much more expensive equipment.
Don't even reckon about it. |

| Ordered before Christmas using standard delivery and received it in 3 days. PowerCenter works fine. no problems at all. Would buy it from this company again. Only negative was that it was not obivious that most electronices were not returnable. |
Excellent but could use some changes

I reckon this is a fantastic product although a small pricey and could use some revisions. Here is a basic list of my pros and cons -
Pros
1. 11 total outlets, 10 outlets in the back plus extra in front which made testing various machines in my entertainment system very simple.
2. Two USB ports for charging things like a Zune, Camera, etc.
3. Cable, LAN, and phone outlets.
4. Show input voltages with a dimmer.
5. Looks nice in entertainment stand.
Cons
1. One of the USB ports should be in the back so you can leave something like a Zune docking station on top without having the front panel always open.
2. There are outlets right next to the coaxial inputs which makes some larger adapters unable to fit, should have place them next to the ethernet ports since they are less likely to be used and a small more room for a larger adapter if in use.
3. The show color is somewhat harsh to look at it. The dimmer helps but when you shut off the front show all the indicator lights shut off except for the clean power on. Would like all indicator lights to stay on and just shut off the voltage show.
The few things I wish were different wouldn't keep me from buying this again but keep it from getting a perfect score. Overall, I am very pleased with the buy. It looks fantastic in my stand, has all the outlets I need and the USB ports are fantastic.

Must replace every 5 years!

Adding to Monster's 5 year warranty after speaking to customer service today:
1. Yes, they only replace if it's within 5 years from date of buy. Must have receipt saved for 5 years. My HTS 2000 Power Center crapped out 5 months before the 5 years.
2. Vital: They said that they are only responsible for the connected equipment for 5 years. After 5 years, if the Power Center doesn't stop a surge from destroying whatever you've connected to it, they are not liable. So that means you have to buy a new Power Center every 5 years to make sure your equipment is protected. The customer service rep confirms this. I had him reluctantly repeat this back to me, and it didn't sound very excellent. Poor guy. But yes, you must buy a new Power Center every 5 years. So...in conclusion, you must factor this into the cost. I guess if you divide the price into 5, it's not that terrible of a deal. Just remember to buy a new one every 5 years! |
